Considerations when upgrading bundled products (2036848)
Purpose
The article provides information on what happens to the bundled products after upgrading.
Details
Upgrading certain license keys that are part of a bundle can result in different Support and Subscription pricing at time of renewal and may impact future bundle upgrades.
When a bundle gets upgraded, VMware splits the bundle to upgrade the chosen component.
This impacts the future renewal pricing because the bundle does not exist anymore and any renewal quote will be based on the price of the components.
Note: The entire bundle is broken when the upgrade is booked, and not just the component being upgraded.
The component bundle relationship is broken and the components are considered as standalone products that are not part of a bundle.
At the time of renewal, the bundle can no longer be quoted and the components can be quoted only as standalone products.
Renewal pricing of these standalone products will be different as they are not part of a bundle and the order will be processed normally, including the upgrade of the product that was broken from the bundle.
