Activity logs and Event logs show history longer than what is specified in System Settings (2036795)
- Events appear longer than the Expire Event Messages interval that is specified in System Settings.
- Timeouts appear for the EVENTVIEWER EXPIRE EVENTS query in the Event Logs.
- The IN_EVENT_VIEWER table in the database may become large or cause performance problems.
- Activity logs and Event logs display a history longer than what is specified in System Settings.
The EVENTVIEWER EXPIRE EVENTS query deletes items in the IN_EVENT_VIEWER table that are older than the specified time in the Expire Event Messages interval that is configured in System Administration > System > System Settings.
If this fails or times out, there is no recheck of this until the next interval, possibly causing further delays.
This is a known issue affecting VMware Service Manager 9.x. A resolution for this issue is being evaluated for inclusion in a future release.
Once this information becomes available, this article will be updated with the patch information.
To workaround this issue, manually truncate the relevant table in the database.
