Solution
Summaries and Symptoms
This patch updates the ESX service console RPMs expat, python, and python-libs to the following versions:
- expat-1.95.8-11.el5_8
- python-2.4.3-46.el5_8.2.x86_64
- python-libs-2.4.3-46.el5_8.2.x86_64
These updates fix multiple security issues. The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures project (cve.mitre.org) has assigned the names CVE-2011-4940, CVE-2011-4944, CVE-2012-1150, CVE-2012-0876, and CVE-2012-1148 to these issues.
Deployment Considerations
When you scan the ESX410-201211407-SG bulletin against ESX 4.1GA or ESX 4.1 U1 host using VMware Update Manager, a conflict message similar to the following might be displayed:
The selected update conflicts with the following packages already installed on the host:
python-2.4.3-27.el5@x86_64.
The selected update conflicts with the following updates in the VMware vCenter Update Manager patch repository:
ESX400-201203402-SG, ESX410-201201405-SG, ESX410-Update03.
These patch repository conflicts will NOT affect stage and remediation unless the conflicting patches are included in the baseline(s).
Workaround: You can ignore the conflicting status and proceed with the staging and remediation process.
Patch Download and Installation
