Custom fields do not appear in the Linked Fields list in Designer of VMware Service Manager 9.x (2036168)

Symptoms

In VMware Service Manager 9.x, you experience these symptoms:

  • Custom extension field that is created on a Config Item (CI) screen, using Designer, does not appear in the Linked Fields list of other screens.

For example, if you open a request screen in Designer, click on Linked CI, and select the Linked Fields radio button, the custom field does not appear in the list of linked fields.

  • Only custom fields that are created on the base Configuration Item screen (entity_type of 1) appears in the list of linked fields.

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting VMware Service Manager 9.x. A resolution for this issue is being evaluated for inclusion in a future release.

To workaround this issue, create the custom extension field on the default Configuration Item screen in Service Manager 9.x.

The custom fields are available in the Linked CI field in Designer.
