Cannot install high-availability backup node after you change the SSL certificate for vCenter Single Sign On (2034069)

Details

When you install a high availability backup node for vCenter Single Sign On, the SSL certificate for the Security Token Service (STS) and the STS signing certificate must have the same root certificate. If the root certificates do not match, installation fails.

Solution

Replace the SSL certificate for Single Sign On in a high availability environment.

Prerequisite: Generate or retrieve a new SSL certificate for the system that will be the primary node (VM-1).

  1. Log in to the vSphere Web Client as the Single Sign On administrator and navigate to Sign-On and Discovery > Configuration > STS Certificate.
  2. Click Edit and import the new certificate.
