Resetting the vCloud Usage Meter root password (2034008)

Purpose

This article provides steps to reset the vCloud Usage Meter root password.

Resolution

To reset the vCloud Usage Meter root password:
  1. Start the vCloud Usage Meter appliance.
  2. At the GRUB boot menu, select the Linux option and press e.
  3. Select the SUSE kernel.
  4. Press e again to edit.
  5. Go to the last line, press space, and then add:

    init=/bin/sh

  6. Press Enter.
  7. Press b to boot.
  8. After the system boots, enter this command in the console:

    passwd

  9. Enter the new password and then re-enter the same password to confirm it.
  10. Reboot the vCloud Usage Meter appliance.
