Solution

Summaries and Symptoms

This patch updates the misc-drivers VIB to resolve the following issues:

    • PR 747835: FCoE switch can return VLAN ID 4095 in response to the first FIP VLAN discovery request coming from an initiator. However, VLAN ID 4095 is a reserved ID. When ESXi accepts the VLAN ID 4095 from a FCoE switch, ESXi stops FIP VLAN discovery requests and uses this VLAN ID causing FCoE switch to stop functioning.

    • PR 862366: A race condition in libata driver can cause it to fail in function ata_hsm_move with purple diagnostic screen and with a stack trace similar to following.
      BUG: failure at vmkdrivers/src_9/drivers/ata/libata-core.c:5833/ata_hsm_move()! (inside vmklinux) Panic_vPanic@vmkernel#nover+0x13 stack: 0x3000000010, 0x412209a87e00 vmk_PanicWithModuleID@vmkernel#nover+0x9d stack: 0x412209a87e20,0x4 ata_hsm_move@com.vmware.libata#9.2.0.0+0xa0 stack: 0x0, 0x410017c03e ata_pio_task@com.vmware.libata#9.2.0.0+0xa5 stack: 0x0, 0x0, 0x53fec vmklnx_workqueue_callout@com.vmware.driverAPI#9.2+0x11a stack: 0x0, helpFunc@vmkernel#nover+0x568 stack: 0x0, 0x0, 0x0, 0x0, 0x0
    • PR 909483: When the user attempts to plug-in or unplug an input device through USB port the ESXi host fails with a purple screen and the following error message:
      PCPU21 locked up. Failed to ack TLB invalidate.
    Deployment Considerations
