vCenter Operations Manager Enterprise mashup widget times out on refresh interval (2033743)

A mashup widget in the vCenter Operations Manager 5.0.x custom UI displays the error:

Session has timed out after reaching the refresh interval
Modifying the refresh interval does not resolve the issue.
