Enrolling in Enterprise Purchasing Program (2032836)

Purpose

This article provides information on:
  • Enrollment options for Enterprise Purchasing Program
  • Purchasing Program Roles
  • Optional Information
Note:
  • To enroll in EPP, you need to log in to My VMware. If you do not have a My VMware log in, ensure to create one to continue with the enrollment process. Your credentials will affect the resulting enrollment options that are displayed.
  • For new customers, successful enrollment generates a VMware Purchasing Program Membership Number. Existing members can continue to use their existing Membership Number. The VMware Purchasing Program Membership is common across all VMware Purchasing Programs.

EPP Enrollment options

EPP enrollment options includes these scenario:

You do not have a My VMware profile

To enroll in EPP when you do not have a My VMware profile:
  1. Create a My VMware profile and enter the appropriate information
  2. Select one of these enrollment types.

    • VPP
      • Net-new Membership – This option is for customers who have never held a VMware Purchasing Program Member Number and want to join the Volume Purchasing Program (VPP).
      • Self Enrolled Affiliate (SEA) Membership – This option is for customers who are an affiliate of an existing VMware Purchasing Program Member and want to join VPP.

        You must supply the VMware Purchasing Program Membership Number of your parent organization to continue. This submission generates an automated request to the Membership’s Primary Membership Administrator (PMA). You receive an email notification when the request is approved or denied. You cannot submit a VPP PO until you receive approval from the PMA.

    • VPP + EPP
      • Net-new – This option is for customers who have never held a VMware Purchasing Program Member Number and want to join VPP and EPP.
      • Self Enrolled Affiliate (SEA) Membership – This option is for customers who are an affiliate of an existing VMware Purchasing Program Member and want to join the VPP and EPP.

        You must supply the VMware Purchasing Program Membership Number of your parent organization to continue. This submission generates an automated request to the Membership’s Primary Membership Administrator (PMA). You receive an email notification when the request is approved or denied. You cannot submit a VPP PO until you receive approval from the PMA.

You have a My VMware profile, but are not associated to a VMware Purchasing Program Member Number

To enroll in EPP when you have a My VMware profile, but are not associated to a VMware Purchasing Program Member Number:
  1. Complete any incomplete Company profile information for My VMware profile.
  2. Select one of these enrollment types:

    • VPP
      • Net-new Membership – This option is for customers who have never held a VMware Purchasing Program Member Number and want to join VPP.
      • Self Enrolled Affiliate (SEA) Membership – This option is for customers who are an affiliate of an existing VMware Purchasing Program Member and want to join VPP. You must supply the VMware Purchasing Program Membership Number of your parent organization to continue.

    • VPP + EPP
      • Net-new – This option is for customers who have never held a VMware Purchasing Program Member Number and want to join VPP and EPP.
      • Self Enrolled Affiliate (SEA) Membership – This option is for customers who are an affiliate of an existing VMware Purchasing Program Member and want to join VPP and EPP. You must supply the VMware Purchasing Program Membership Number of your parent organization to continue.

    • EPP
      • This option is for customers who want to enroll as a Fund Owner in EPP.
      • If your My VMware profile is not currently associated to a VMware Purchasing Program Membership Number, you must supply one to continue.
      • Your EPP enrollment generates an automated request to the Membership’s Primary Membership Administrator (PMA). You receive an email notification when the request is approved or denied. You cannot submit an EPP purchase order until you receive approval from the PMA.

You have a My VMware profile and your profile is associated to a VMware Purchasing Program Member Number

  • This option is for customers who want to enroll as a Fund Owner in the Enterprise Purchasing Program (EPP).
  • Your EPP enrollment generates an automated request to the Membership’s Primary Membership Administrator (PMA). You receive an email notification when the request is approved or denied. You cannot submit an EPP purchase order until you receive approval from the PMA.

You have a My VMware profile and are associated to a VMware Purchasing Program Member Number and are an EPP Fund Owner

You are enrolled in both VPP and EPP and have no additional enrollment options.
 

Purchasing Program Roles

Volume Purchasing Program (VPP)

Primary Membership Administrator (PMA)

  • The VPP Administrator is known as PMA. A PMA can add additional PMAs on the VPP Points Portal.
  • Users with this role manage the membership by:

    • Adding/removing Affiliates and Partners as needed
    • Choosing the setting for and responding to requests to join your membership
    • Managing the company contacts who can view your VPP Points Portal.

Enterprise Purchasing Program (EPP)

Fund Owner

  • Users this role are entitled to purchase EPP tokens. After buying tokens, the Fund Owner can log in to My VMware to view the purchased EPP token balance, transfer tokens to other users, and redeem tokens for VMware products and support.
  • There can be multiple EPP Fund Owners who are associated with the same VMware Purchasing Program Membership.

Alternate Fund Owner

  • If the Fund Owner is unable to fulfill their EPP duties, EPP enrollment requires that the Fund Owner designate an alternate EPP Administrator.
  • There is a one-to-one relationship between a Fund Owner and an Alternate Fund Owner.

Optional information

VPP

  • You can choose to add VPP Partners and Affiliates during enrollment.
  • To join a VPP membership, an affiliate must satisfy all of these criteria:

    • The affiliate is at least 50 percent owned by the parent
    • The affiliate utilizes the purchasing department of the parent company to purchase VMware product licenses
    • The affiliate does not publicly trade on any stock exchange under its own stock ticker symbol.

  • If you skip this step, VPP information can be provided later on the VPP Points Portal.

EPP

  • You can choose to add EPP Partners during enrollment.
  • If you skip this step, VPP information can be provided later on the EPP Page in My VMware.
