Brocade 1020 CNA has a blank WWN address in ESXi 5.0 (2030791)

Symptoms

  • Brocade 1020 CNA has a blank WWN address in ESXi 5.0
  • You are able to see the vmhba for Brocade 1020, but not the WWN
  • When checking the bfa driver version in /proc/scsi, you see that the WWN all zero:
WWNN: 00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00
WWPN: 00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00


  • The WWN address also appears as all zero on the physical fibre channel switch

Cause

This issue occurs if the bna and bfa driver version components of the FCoE driver do not match.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, upgrade both the component drivers to the same version, such as 3.0.3.0, and then reboot the host.
