Error when launching the Import Export Tool in VMware vCenter Configuration Manager (2021686)

Symptoms

Launching the Import Export Tool in VMware vCenter Configuration Manager fails
You see these errors:
- Unhandled exception has occurred in your application
- Input string was not in a correct format
- System.FormatException: Input string was not in a correct format

Cause

This issue occurs if there is an invalid character in the C:\ProgramData\CM\ImportExport\AppSettings.xml file.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, delete the C:\ProgramData\CM\ImportExport\AppSettings.xml file. The file is automatically recreated when you launch the Import Export Tool.
