Unable to log in to the admin UI after upgrading to vCenter Operations Manager 5.0.1 (2019676)

Symptoms

  • After upgrading to vCenter Operations Manager 5.0.1, you are unable to log in to the admin UI using a previously configured password
  • The local admin user can log in to the vSphere and custom UI, but not the admin UI
  • You see the error:

    The user ID and password combination is invalid. Please try again

  • In the /usr/lib/tomcat-ciqadmin/logs/localhost-date.log file, you see entries similar to:

    27-Apr-2012 07:40:52.084 SEVERE [TP-Processor3] org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationContext.log An IncompatibleRemoteServiceException was thrown while proc
    essing this call.
     com.google.gwt.user.client.rpc.IncompatibleRemoteServiceException: This application is out of date, please click the refresh button on your browser. ( Cou
    ld not locate requested method 'getServerStatus()' in interface 'com.vmware.cm.ui.client.UpgradeService' )

Resolution

This is a known issue.
 
To work around this issue, clear the cache or perform a full browser refresh by pressing Ctrl + F5.
