Using the Post by E-mail feature when you are a member of multiple communities on Socialcast (2019541)

Purpose

This article provides information on how the Post by E-mail feature in Socialcast functions when a user is a member of more than one community on the multi-tenant SaaS platform.

Resolution

When posting messages to a Socialcast community via email, messages are sent to either of these addresses, as required:
  • Posting to your Profile Stream – share@socialcast.com
  • Posting to a group – share+groupname@socialcast.com
However, if an email address is attached to multiple accounts on the SaaS platform (indicated by the presence of a dropdown community selection at the top of the browser page), emails from that account's address is only matched against streams and groups in the primary community for that account. If a matching group is found, the post is created in the group. However, if a matching group is not found, the post is made to the the account's Profile Stream in the primary community.

Note: This may result in unintended public posting of private/restricted messages.

Replies to posts, however, work correctly for any community to which the email account is attached to.

If you intend to post/share via email to multiple communities in the Multi-tenant SaaS product, ensure to use separate email accounts.
