The navigation tree in vCenter Operations Manager does not contain any entries (2019004)

Symptoms

  • The navigation tree in the vCenter Operations Manager management page is empty
  • The navigation tree in vCenter Operations Manager does not show any inventory
  • You are able to view all objects in the Operations tab
  • Hovering over the Datacenter object shows Restricted, though the current use has the Administrator role within vCenter Server

Cause

 This issue occurs if you have renamed an object from within the vCenter Server Inventory view. 

Resolution

This is a known issue in vCenter Operations Manager 5.0.
 
This issue is resolved in vCenter Operations Manager 5.0.1. To download vCenter Operations Manager 5.0.1, see the VMware Download Center.
 
To work around this issue when you do not want to upgrade, log in to vCenter Operations Manager using the default Admin account. You should now be able to view the entire inventory.
