Connecting to the View Connection server fails with the error: WinHttp ErrorCode = 12029 (2017831)

After upgrading View Client to version 4.6.1 or 5.0.1, you experience these symptoms:

Cannot connect to the View Connection server
Connecting to the View Connection server fails
In the Client log, you see the error:

[wswc_http] WinHttp ErrorCode = 12029
[wswc_command] Verify that the View Connection Server address and network settings are correct

This issue occurs if SSL is not configured for use by View Client.

Newer View Client versions require SSL to be configured.

To resolve this issue, ensure that SSL is configured for use by View Client in the View Connection server global settings.
