Automated gathering of statistics for Oracle database tables and their indexes (2016451)

Details

You must update the statistics of data tables periodically, so that the Oracle SQL native query analyzer can operate and fetch data efficiently. vCenter Operations Manager does not provide a user interface for you to configure database updates.

Solution

You can run the attached script to enable automatic monthly updates of SQL database tables and indexes. The update will run on every first day of the month, at 01:01:01 AM.
Large and frequently used tables are listed in the stats_update_proc procedure. You might need to modify that list as appropriate, to match your environment.
The Scheduled stats update(Oracle).sql file contains several queries that are commented out. You can use them as appropriate.
Note: You can modify only the list of tables in the stats_update_proc procedure. For all other modifications, contact VMware Support Services.
