vCenter Operation Manager is installed only in the first appliance when vCenter Servers are in linked mode (2016066)

Symptoms

When installing vCenter Operation Manager in a multiple linked mode environment, you experience these symptoms:

  • vCenter Operations Manager gets installed only in the first appliance
  • IP addresses are not assigned to other appliances
  • The vCenter Operation Manager appliance does not get assigned IP addresses.

Cause

This issue occurs if you switch to another linked vCenter Server after installing the first appliance. In this case, you cannot complete the association part of the IP pool and the object does not  work.

Also, the vCenter Operations Manager vApp deployment fails because the virtual machines do not get any IP information.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, log in directly to the vCenter Server where you want to create the vCenter Operation Manager appliance and  create an IP pool  in it.
