Cannot remove fields from the request screen using Service Manager Designer (2016063)

Symptoms

  • When modifying a screen using Service Manager Designer, some fields cannot be removed/deleted from the screen
  • There is no option to remove Actions & Solutions from Request screens in Designer
  • The Portal chekbox cannot be deleted from the Call Details screen in Designer
  • The tabs section in Task and Request screens, including Task, Manage CMDB Transactions, Budget, and Dates, cannot be removed via Designer
  • Designer does not allow you to delete the Action Type field

Resolution

This issue is resolved in VMware Service Manager 9.1 Rolling Patch 01.

You can remove these fields from request screens via Designer:
  • Action Type
  • Portal Checkbox
  • Actions & Solution
  • Tabs section (Task, Manage CMDB Transaction, Budget, Dates)
Warning: The individual tabs from the Tabs section cannot be re-added individually. The workaround is to restore the screen to default. Therefore, do not remove the Tabs section unless you are prepared to restore the screen to default.
