Using the Recreate Desktop option from a detached persistent disk does not move the disk to the virtual machine folder on the datastore (2014138)

Details

  • When a View desktop is created using the Recreate Desktop option in the View Administrator console, the persistent disk is not moved to the virtual machine folder
  • The Recreate Desktop option does not move the persistent detached disk to the virtual machine folder on the datastore

Note: You may want to store the persistent disk with the virtual machine on the datastore for administrative purposes.

Solution

To resolve this issue, rebalance the desktop to a new datastore. During the move, the persistent disk is moved to the virtual machine folder on the new datastore.

If you do not have separate datastores, you can move the disk to the virtual machine folder manually. For more information, see Moving a persistent disk to another View desktop (1033286).
