vMotion fails with the error: Migration to host <<unknown>> failed with error Already disconnected (195887150) (2014037)

Symptoms

You are unable to perform a vMotion
Performing a vMotion of a virtual machine fails
vMotion fails with the error:

Migration to host <<unknown>> failed with error Already disconnected (195887150).
An unknown error has occurred.
An unknown error has occurred.
vMotion migration [-1062706151:1328732864388217] socket connected returned: Already disconnected

Cause

This issue may occur due to a Jumbo Frame misconfiguration. This can occur if the MTU size on the Physical Switch is set to 1500, whereas the vSwitch and VMkernel port are configured to use an MTU greater than 1500.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, configure the physical switch to accept and pass jumbo size frames.

Note: Depending on the make/model of your switch, you may have to set the MTU to either 9000 or 9216 to account for an overhead. For more information, contact your switch vendor.
