List when creating a protection group does not show virtual machines that are replicated using vSphere Replication or shows replicated virtual machines that have been deleted (2013437)

Symptoms

The wizard to create a new protection group:

  • Does not list virtual machines that are replicated using vSphere Replication.
  • Lists previously replicated virtual machines that have been deleted.

Cause

vSphere Replication Management Servers (VRMS) exchange information between sites about virtual machine replication. If the VRMS connection is broken, exchange of information about replicated virtual machines is not automatically re-established when you reconfigure the VRMS connection. This may result in incomplete information about virtual machine replication, including which virtual machines are available to add to protection groups.

Resolution

To resolve these issues, restart the SRM service.
