Cannot change the name of the vCloud Connector 1.5 appliance (2010799)
Symptoms
- Cannot change the name of the vCloud Connector 1.5 appliance
- When you change the name of the vCloud Connector 1.5 appliance, it reverts to the original name after a reboot of the appliance
For example, the name of the appliance before the reboot is vcc-server01 and the name after the reboot is vccserver18665.
- Changes to the vCloud Connector appliance name does not persist across reboots
Resolution
This is an expected behavior.
If an IP address has a DNS entry associated with it, the hostname is set by the DNS name after a reboot. If the IP address is not associated with a DNS entry, the hostname is set to the pattern vccserver#####, where ##### is a system-generated, five digit random number.
To workaround this issue when you do not want to use the system-generated name, create a DNS entry for the appliance.
