An ESX/ESXi 4.1 U2 host with vShield Endpoint 1.0 installed fails with a purple diagnostic screen mentioning VFileFilterReconnectWork (2009452)
Symptoms
- On an ESX/ESXi 4.1 U2 host with vShield Endpoint 1.0 installed, you may see a purple diagnostic screen with text similar to:

You may also encounter a purple diagnostic screen similar to the following:

Certain tasks may trigger the purple diagnostic screen such as a vMotion.
Resolution
This is an issue affecting ESX/ESXi 4.1 U2 hosts when vShield Endpoint 1.0 is installed. This issue is resolved in vShield Endpoint 1.0 Update 3, available from the VMware Download Center. See below for more information:
Notes:
- This issue does not occur in ESX/ESXi 4.1 U1 hosts with vShield Endpoint 1.0 installed.
- This article does not does not apply to vShield Endpoint 5.0.
- vShield Manager 4.1.0 U2, vShield App 1.0.0 U2, vShield Edge 1.0.0 U2, and vShield Endpoint 1.0.0 U3 are not affected by this issue.
