Powering off the ESX host fails with the error: synchronizing scsi cache for disk sds (2008078)

Symptoms

  • Cannot power off or reboot the ESX host
  • Powering off or rebooting the host fails
  • You see the error:

    synchronizing scsi cache for disk sds
    synchronizing scsi cache for disk sdf
    ....

Cause

This issue may occur if you are using the Emulex be2net driver version older than 2.102.554.0.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, upgrade the Emulex be2net driver to version 2.102.554.0 or later.
