How to divide license keys in My VMware (2006972)

Purpose

This article explains how to divide license keys in My VMware.

Details


Dividing license keys allows for flexibility and the option to distribute license keys across multiple folders.
 
Super Users, Procurement Contacts, and users with the Divide & Combine License Keys permissions can divide license keys.
 
To divide license keys:

  1. Log in to My VMware.
  2. Select License Keys from the Quick Links menu.
  3. Select Divide License Keys from the I want to dropdown:




  4. Select one or more folders:



    Note: Select All selects all folders and sub-folders.

  5. If you have a large number of products or license keys, you can use the Filter By field to narrow your choices. To filter products within the folders based on a criteria, enter the filter text in the Filter By field and click Apply.

    Notes:
    • The default filter options are:

      • Product Name
      • Lincense Key
      • Note

    • To view more filter options, click More Filters. The additional filter options include:

      • Order Info – Order Date and Order Number
      • Contract Info – Contract Date and Contract Number
      • Custom Labels that you have created

  6. Select a product.
  7. Select the license key you want to divide.

    Note: The product must be eligible to be divided. VMware Fusion 1 and 2, VMware Workstation 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, Cisco Nexus 1000V, and Enterprise products released before May 2009 cannot be divided. 

  8. Click Continue.
  9. Choose the number of new keys from the dropdown. The total quantity of licenses must be greater than 1.
  10. Assign the number of CPUs to each key. The entered quantity must be equal to the total quantity.
  11. Indicate that you have read and understood the warning.
  12. Click Confirm.

    The change takes place immediately. An alert is generated when the action is complete.
