After deleting the virtual machine in Fusion, Windows applications are not removed from the Mac Applications folder (2005974)

Symptoms

After deleting the virtual machine in Fusion, the associated Windows applications that were added to the Mac's Applications folder are not removed.

Cause

When the virtual machine is deleted from the Virtual Machine Library in Fusion, the Windows applications in the Mac's Applications folder are removed as part of the cleanup process.  If the virtual machine was deleted in Finder, by dragging the bundle to the Trash or by right-clicking and selecting Move to Trash, the applications placed in your Mac's Applications folder associated with that virtual machine are not deleted.

Resolution

To ensure that the applications are cleaned up at the time of deletion, ensure to delete the virtual machine by removing it through VMware Fusion. Fore more information, see Deleting a virtual machine in Fusion (1003420).

To remove the applications manually:

  1. Open Finder and navigate to the Applications folder.
  2. Right-click on each Windows application and click Move to Trash.
