Log collector fails to collect logs from a remote server (2004377)
Purpose
This article provides information about how to collect log files from the remote server when the Log Collector utility fails to collect the logs from the passive server.
Resolution
To collect log files from the remote server when the Log Collector utility fails to collect the logs from the passive server:
- Run the Log Collector separately on each server in the cluster and collect the logs.
- Open a command prompt.
- Navigate to VMware\VMware vCenter Server Heartbeat\R2\bin.
- Run the command:
LogCollector –remote
- Follow the on-screen prompts. Log files are created in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\VMware\vCenterServerHeartbeat.
- Email the CAB file to the person addressing your Support Request. If you already have a Support Request reference number, this should be included in the Subject line of the email (for example, Subject: SR 1000 - Company Name).
