ESXi 5.0 Auto Deploy does not support /etc/pam.d/passwd configuration file through Host Profiles (2002694)

Details

ESXi 5.0 Auto Depoy does not support the configuration of the following file through Host Profiles:

/etc/pam.d/passwd

This configuration file loses the custom settings after you reboot the host deployed with Auto Deploy.

Solution

To keep the custom configuration file settings, add the files to an image builder's image.
