Overview
The Dell EqualLogic Multipathing Extension Module includes a CIM provider.This provider implements management tasks for the multipathing solution including monitoring the SAN configuration, modifying iSCSI sessions to maintain the optimal mesh, and collecting details of the volume layout for use by the Path Selection Plug-in.This CIM provider is automatically loaded at ESXi startup so these tasks can be provided in the background without any user intervention.

The provider supports both DTMF and private schemas. As the CIM provider is loaded automatically and does not have a user interface for direct access, the details are not included in this article.
CIM client plug-in support
The CIM provider is managed on ESX and ESXi 4.x releases via an off-host script that is distributed with the Multipathing Extension Module.
