Troubleshooting options are not applied as expected when you use host profiles (2002615)

Details

When you enable or disable troubleshooting services (ESXi Shell and SSH) using the Direct Console User Interface (DCUI) on a reference host and create a host profile, the settings might not be applied correctly if the target host has a non-zero timeout value set for the ESXi Shell.

For example, troubleshooting services are enabled on the target host and a timeout value of 5 minutes is set for the ESXi Shell. When you apply a host profile that has troubleshooting services disabled, the setting is not applied. Troubleshooting services continue to be enabled on the target host after you apply the host profile.

Solution

If you are using host profiles to disable or enable troubleshooting services, you must set the ESXi Shell timeout value on the target host to zero (0).
