Resetting the Administrator password in vCenter Operations Standard 1.0.x (2001483)

Details

When you log in to the Administration portal of vCenter Operations Standard for the first time, the application forces you to change the default administrator credentials. If you forget the administrator password, you cannot access the Administration portal to apply global settings to vCenter Operations.

Solution

To reset the Administrator password in the vCenter Operations 1.0.x vApp follow the directions below:
  1. In the vSphere Client Inventory view, select the vCenter Operations vApp and navigate to the appliance console.
  2. Log in as the root user.
  3. In the localhost directory, type cd /usr/lib/vmware-vcops/user/conf/install and press Enter.
  4. In the install directory, type the following command: ./resetadminpwd.sh <new password> and press Enter.  For example:

    ./resetadminpwd.sh admin123

  5. Type logout and press Enter to return to the main menu.
