Virtual Center Cannot Change Password During Cloning of Windows 2003 Standard (1965)

Details

After I clone a Windows 2003 Standard guest, the administrator password no longer works, and Sysprep cannot reset the password. What can I do to fix or avoid this problem?

Solution

If the Windows 2003 Standard administrator password is not blank, then the Virtual Center clone corrupts the user account database in the guest operating system.

To solve this problem, set the Windows 2003 Standard administrator password to blank before beginning the cloning process.
