Setting Performance Intervals to Less Than a Past Day

How do I set the performance intervals in VirtualCenter to report on data gathered more frequently than the entire past day? Past Day is the smallest value I see available, but I would like to see data for the past hour or the past half day, for example.

Solution

The following table shows the recommended values for setting performance intervals for the past hour, the past two hours, the past six hours, and the past twelve hours. To add any of these intervals, create a new performance interval in VirtualCenter (see the links to the documentation, below).

Important: Don't use a value of less than five for the Minutes per Sample value, because this may cause gaps to appear in your data. For more details, see www.vmware.com/support/kb/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=1883.
