VirtualCenter Performance Graphs Display Gaps in Data After Customizing Performance Intervals

Details

Why do the performance graphs in VirtualCenter display unexpected gaps in the data that it returns for my ESX Server system?

Solution

This issue can occur if an administrator creates a custom performance interval with Minutes per Sample set below five. VirtualCenter pulls information from the ccagent daemon on each ESX Server system in five-minute intervals. As a result, if the value for Minutes per Sample is less than five, you may see small gaps of data in the performance graphs.

To avoid this issue, VMware recommends that you do not set a performance interval of less than five.

For related information about setting performance intervals for less than the past day, see www.vmware.com/support/kb/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=1925.
