Backing Up Virtual Machine with vcbMounter from ESX Service Console Fails (1871295)

Details

An issue preventing vcbMounter running on the ESX Server service console to back up a virtual machine hosted by a different ESX Server system has been fixed in ESX Server 3.0.1. You can now back up any virtual machine within a farm of ESX Server systems managed by the same VirtualCenter instance and sharing a common pool of virtual disk images.

Solution

Back up a virtual machine by running vcbMounter on the service console of any ESX Server system in the farm.
 
To use this feature with ESX Server 3.0.1, point vcbMounter to the VirtualCenter server managing the farm.
