"Upgrade Virtual Hardware" Appears on Hardware Tab When I Create a Virtual Machine Using Raw Disk or Raw Disk Mapping

Details

An Upgrade Virtual Hardware message appears on my Hardware tab when I am creating a virtual machine using raw disk or raw disk mapping. What should I do?

Solution

When you create a virtual machine using a raw disk (on releases previous to ESX Server 2.5.0 and pre-existing virtual machines in later releases) or raw disk mappings (on ESX Server 2.5.0 and later) instead of a virtual disk, an Upgrade Virtual Hardware link might appear on the Hardware tab of the Management Interface.

You may safely ignore this message.
