VirtualCenter Installation Fails When Password Field Left Blank

Why did my VirtualCenter installation fail?

Solution

If you started your VirtualCenter installation and provided a user name, but you did not provide a password, the installation starts and fails with an error similar to the following:

Setup failed to update the VirtualCenter configuration file 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\VMware\VMware VirtualCenter\VMA\vmaConfig.xml'.

Do not enter a user name unless you have a corresponding password.

To correct this, upgrade to VirtualCenter version 1.3.1 or later.
