Too Few VMware ACE Shortcuts Appear on End User's Desktop

I created a VMware ACE package with more than one virtual machine. When my end users install the package, the number of desktop shortcuts does not match the number of virtual machines in the package. What should I do to ensure that there is a shortcut for each of the virtual machines?

Solution

To ensure that the package installer creates the number of desktop shortcuts you expect, you must be sure the virtual machine name for each of the virtual machines in the package is unique.

If you need to change the names of any of your virtual machines, take the following steps for each one:

  1. Open the virtual machine in VMware ACE Manager.
  2. Choose VM>Settings>Options>General.
  3. Change the name in the Virtual machine name field.
  4. Click OK.
After you complete the previous steps for all affected virtual machines, use the New Package Wizard to create the package.
