Cursor Sticks in Upper Right Corner of Virtual Machine Display in Legacy Red Hat Linux 7.2 Virtual Machine (1709)

Details

The cursor sticks in upper right corner of the display in my Red Hat Linux 7.2 virtual machine. How can I use the mouse again?

Solution

If you notice this problem, restart the guest operating system and the cursor should work normally.

This issue can occur if you are running a Red Hat Linux 7.2 virtual machine that was created under an earlier version of GSX Server (known as a legacy virtual machine) or another VMware product. It can also occur after you install VMware Tools from the current version of GSX Server and start the guest X server.
