Older Versions of Nero InCD Affect Memory Availability for Virtual Machines

There seems to be little memory available for running virtual machines on my computer -- much less than I expected to see. I have the Nero CD creation software installed on my computer. How can I release more memory for use by virtual machines?

Solution

This problem has been seen on systems running InCD, which is part of the Nero package. Versions of InCD prior to version 4.3.11.1 may unnecessarily reserve large amounts of system memory while running, making that system memory unavailable for virtual machines.

This issue is not specific to VMware products.

An update for InCD to version 4.3.11.1 or higher is available from the manufacturer:
http://www.nero.com/en/nero-up.php.
