Why does the snmpwalk tool display an incorrect product version and build number?

Solution

This problem occurs in the combination of VirtualCenter 1.2 and ESX Server 2.5.1 only and does not interfere with the correct functioning of the software.

The snmpwalk tool uses an older API that returns the version number that was compiled into vmware-ccagent. Since this version of vmware-ccagent was released with VirtualCenter 1.2 and ESX Server 2.5, the 2.5.0 product version and build number is the one compiled in.
