Errors Using FSC Global Array Manager or SAN Array Manager

I encounter errors or system failures when using Global Array Manager or SAN Array Manager with an FSC S60 storage array. Is this a problem with ESX Server?

Solution

Yes, there is an error in ESX Server versions 2.1, 2.1.1 and 2.1.2 that conflicts with Global Array Manager and SAN Array Manager. Check /var/log/vmkernel for the following error message:

scsi : aborting command due to timeout : [...]UNKNOWN(0x22)"

If you are using these FSC tools and encounter this error message, upgrade your system to VMware ESX Server 2.1.2 Upgrade Patch 2.
