Host Hangs or Freezes When Virtual Machine Powers On
Details
- The host machine hangs or freezes while powering on the virtual machine.
- While powering on a virtual machine, you see the error:
VMware Workstation unrecoverable error: (mks)
A serious error has occurred inside the computer's OpenGL graphics drivers.
Solution
VMware has observed multiple problems on hosts with legacy video drivers installed. You should keep your host updated with the latest video drivers available for your video card.
This issue is not limited by host operating system, video card manufacturer or specific driver version. Problems have been noted with older drivers from all manufacturers on both Windows and Linux hosts.
