Host Hangs or Freezes When Virtual Machine Powers On

Details

When I use VMware products, my host hangs or freezes when I power on a virtual machine. Sometimes after I reboot, the virtual machine is corrupted. Are there any known issues about this?

Solution

VMware has observed multiple problems on hosts with legacy video drivers installed. You should keep your host updated with the latest video drivers available for your video card.

This issue is not limited by host operating system, video card manufacturer or specific driver version. Problems have been noted with older drivers from all manufacturers on both Windows and Linux hosts.
