Problems Switching VMware ACE to Full Screen Mode

Details

My end users are encountering problems when they attempt to switch VMware ACE to full screen mode. What should they do?

Solution

This problem is seen when the virtual machine encounters a changed monitor on the host computer.

A common example is a laptop computer that is sometimes connected to an external monitor with a higher screen resolution than the built-in screen.

To avoid the problem, be sure your end user completely powers off the virtual machine before changing the host computer's monitor. Simply closing the VMware ACE window does not power off the virtual machine. Instead, the end user must shut down the guest operating system, then choose VMware ACE>Troubleshoot>Power Off and Exit.
