CPU Usage Summary Might Appear as Negative Percentage, and Memory Available to New Virtual Machines Appears as Unavailable for GSX Server Hosts
Details
Why does CPU usage appear as a negative percentage, and the
memory available to new virtual machines appear as unavailable for
GSX Server hosts?
Solution
Negative values and over 100% values are usage volatilities.
They can be negative or over 100% to indicate either less usage or
extremely high usage growth, respectively. The volatility indicates
the rate of change:
0% means no change in the usage rate. If usage remains constant at 10%, the volatility is 0%. If
usage remains constant at 90%, the volatility is still 0%.
Readings of -500% and 1000% are also possible in extreme
situations, such as when the starting point is either too high or
too low to compare.
The memory available for virtual machine information is supported
only on ESX Server, not on GSX Server. Therefore, the GSX Server host
shows the memory as unavailable.
