Virtual Machine disks must reside in the GSX Server datastore specified through VirtualCenter

Details

What should you do if all virtual machines and virtual disks do not reside in the datastore when you use VirtualCenter to manage GSX Server?

Solution

When you configure your GSX Server for use with VirtualCenter, you must choose a disk directory to be your VirtualCenter datastore. VirtualCenter can create virtual machines and virtual disks (VMDK files) only in the datastore and can add virtual disks to existing virtual machines only if the virtual disk is in the datastore.

If you have a virtual disk elsewhere, you must move or copy it into the datastore in order to add it to a virtual machine using VirtualCenter.
