Defrag/Suspend/Resume Causes Error when Resuming

Details

I used the VMware defragment feature to defragment the virtual disk in my virtual machine, then I suspended the virtual machine. When I resume the virtual machine, I get an error message. What is wrong?

Solution

This series of actions may produce a message that says the virtual disk's size is not identical to that stored in the header. Nothing is actually wrong with the virtual disk and the integrity of the virtual disk data is not affected. You can safely click OK and let the virtual machine resume.
