Selecting Multiple Virtual Machines and Attempting to Migrate Them All Concurrently Might Fail
Details
Solution
- pre-migration checks conducted on a virtual machine prior to a migration with VMotion are circumvented
- failed migrations might fail to generate a pop-up dialog and will only appear in the task list
VirtualCenter performs a pre-migration check on any virtual machine as part of the pre-process for a migration. When multiple virtual machines are selected, this cannot be completed. Consequently, migration of the virtual machines might fail.
When migrating or migrating with VMotion multiple virtual machines simultaneously (through a multiselect and drag), popup error dialogs are not generated for any failed migrations or migrations with VMotion.
When doing a single migration with VMotion, certain failures can generate popup error dialogs. However, if you are doing a drag of multiple virtual machines to initiate multiple migrations with VMotion, some failure cases will not generate popup error dialogs.
Refer to the task list to view the reasons for any failures.
