ALERT: MTRR: AddFixed: MTRR (mpn 0xc0) different between CPU
Details
When running ESX Server 2.x on HP ProLiant DL580 G2, DL585 G1 or
DL380 G3 server, I receive a system alert regarding fixed memory
differences in CPUs. What is wrong?
Solution
HP ProLiant DL580 G2, DL585 G1 and DL380 G3 servers have
inconsistent fixed memory types across CPUs. When this
configuration is detected, the VMKERNEL Warnings log displays the
following alert after each boot:
0:00:00:00.000 cpu1) ALERT: MTRR: AddFixed: MTRR (mpn 0xc0)
different between CPU 0 (5) and 1 (0)
This system alert should be ignored. Although Intel does not
support this configuration, there are no known issues with running
ESX Server 2.x systems in this state.
