Shutting down a virtual machine fails even if the the Power On/Off privilege is assigned to the user (1039213)

Details

When a user with a custom role tries to power on or power off a virtual machine in Lab Manager, it fails after displaying the following error message:
You do not have sufficient permission to perform this operation.
 
This issue might occur when the user with the custom role does not have the Machine:Edit Properties privilege and is trying to perform any of the following operations in Lab Manager:
  • Suspend/Resume
  • Reset
  • Shut down
  • Revert
  • Snapshot
  • Delete Revert Point
  • Discard State

 

Solution

Ensure that the Machine:Edit Properties privilege is assigned to the custom role.
